Making Your Cables Work For You.

This advise is not specific to Merlin Cables but are more our opinions on how to get the best results for the minimum amount of money and these theories can be applied to any brand of cables.

All cables suffer from capacitance and inductance issues which cannot be avoided. Using a perfectly matched cable system will ensure the most consistent and best possible performance of each wire in your system by preventing multiple issues which should in turn result in the best over all balance of you system.

A Perfectly balanced cable system should share the same design principal and materials from start to finish of that desired signal path. For example using a copper conductor on your interconnect and speaker cables ensuring any other cable in the signal path also shares the same conductor type. You should also make sure that there is no conflicting design technique, try to keep the same all the way through for full compatibility. Caution: Having the same brand does not ensure this at all!!

The most critical wire in your system is always the first one! Any signal lost or altered by the first wire will never be re-gained or undone no matter how good the later wire you use. Whether it is the first link in a mains system such as the mains block or if it is the source component interconnect it is essential that this is of the highest quality possible and you should then spend appropriately on the following cables ensuring system synergy.

Mains Cables can be treated as totally separate systems to the Audio Signal Wires as they do not share the same signal path. Mains cables actually enhance the efficiency and performance of the component where as audio signal wires cannot improve a products performance they can only prevent signal loss as they are after the creation of the signal, both are as important as each other but never confuse the two.
